Effective formulas

Not understanding what’s going on with your business can destroy it.

Let me make up a story for you.

Let’s say, just for the heck of it, there was a forum online, well call the forum WPW.

Let’s say that something like eight or nine years ago, there were two groups of people that had a strong dislike for one another. For some reason both groups found a neutral ground on this forum called WPW.

Both sides knew and respected the forum rules, but they would push the rules to the limit with some of the back and fourths, but in most cases they were on topic heated debates. WPW was quickly becoming one of the most popular forums online. WPW was happy about becoming so popular bur felt their only problem was these two groups.

They tightened up on them to let them know this kind of behavior would not be tolerated and even began banning some of the members of the groups.

WPW has since become part of the living dead. Those business that survive and remain living but never grow or become what they could have been.

You see those two groups were some of the most popular people posting online at that time. And they would defend their side to the end. And by doing this, they would bring in authors and others that agreed with them to help them make their case.

You couldn’t have paid for better publicity than WPW was getting for free.

You had people coming from all over the world to participate and debate SEO.

Not understanding your business and what your customers are wanting, NOT what they say they want but what their actions show you they want.

Most of the decisions we make are made subconsciously. You can’t walk up to someone and ask them why they did something. Because chances are done subconsciously and they do not even know why they did it.

The only way to get this information is on a subconscious level. You have to test it, watch people and determine what they really want!

It’s a mathematical formula for your business to determine your whole online business model?

You put a website online. To start getting traffic coming to that website you run a PPC campaign.

Here is where you determine which keywords are buying keywords and which keywords are browsing keywords. You watch the visitors and determine what they are doing and what actions you need to take to get them do what you want.

You launch a search engine optimization campaign with keywords that work the best. You already know you are not wasting time because you’ve already done the testing.

The whole time you’re getting traffic, you are fine tuning and tweaking the website design, the offer, the prices, the logos, the turnaround times, delivery times, shipping options and anything else you can think of.

You’re taking a website and running a finely tuned well optimized pay per click campaign and using the information gathered from that campaign to launch a search engine optimization campaign.  And the whole time you are gathering information from those visitors that you then use to tweak every part of the website as well as the marketing campaign itself.

You’re using the visitors from the pay per click campaign to tweak and fine tune the website design and offer everything else on the website.

I feel strongly informed about this method that I’ve hired three new people in my office and I am training them right now to do nothing except use this method on Geeks on steroids. It just makes sense.

Do I know it’s going to work? No, of course not!

But if I can make this work own Geeks on steroids, then I can launch a search engine optimize nation company tomorrow and use the exact same formula to make that business a success. And then I can go from there and locked rehosting business, I will update the website, and anything else I want to make immediately success using the same formula that I used own Geeks on steroids.

Running a Good Business

Running a Good Business

When I started Geeks on Steroids I had no idea on how to run any kind of business, so, I tried to hire professional people to help me run it. But no one had a clue on how to run a good business; they only knew how to do it the traditional way. In the last 10 years of hiring people, firing people, and trying to find out how to run the business correctly, I realized that every business that has been created from people who worked for me were designed exactly like Geeks on Steroids, and every one of these survived on a land of a living death, what I mean by this, is that we make enough money to continue in business, but we never make enough money so we can enjoy life. We end up working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week just to keep our selves above water.

I don’t want to live a life that requires me to have to think twice before going on vacation, buying a new house, or putting my kids on a private school, I want a business that does not influence my life with money. My whole life I was told that hard work will get you there but that was a lie… Hard work just keeps you busy.

I can outsource or hire a designer, a programmer and search engine people all day long, but finding someone that’s capable of coming in and run my business in the correct direction is a little hard, and my business needs to go in to be the best direction. This is the person who goes and look on my business and is telling me what direction the business needs to go with, I can buy a nice design template for $100 , I can find someone to convert that template into wordpress for another $100, I can get someone to design another logo on fiver for $5, but to find someone that’s capable of coming in and figure out which key words are going to convert or not only going to give me traffic but persuade people to buy, is not only fiver for $5.

This person needs to have an understanding of what works and what doesn’t work. As far as conversions go, they need to be able to resource and study the best key words, I need to run campaign for those key words, and I need to think which key words brings people to purchase on the website, then you can come in with the designer and with the SEO team to getting your website designed tweak and fine tune, but all this come second to the guy that comes in and sets up the whole business. This guy determine your prices your unique seller preposition, the colors of your website, the logo designs, the phone number, everything, I don’t believe most business owners are capable of doing this on their own. And this is not a task for your website designer or your search engine team, so feel this is something that needs to be done.

Ecommerce for WordPress

Ecommerce for WordPress

Okay, so you are asking yourself, isn’t WordPress a blogging software?

Yes, it is and blogging software is nothing more than a CMS that’s been set up to handle a certain type of website structure. For example online stores or Ecommerce website designs are managed by CMS systems that organize content into catalogues for online shopping carts.

Now you can use any kind of CMS to build a website; it’s a good idea to find something that fits as closely as possible to what you want to do, so there is as little customization as possible.

The thing about WordPress is that its design is simple and flexible.

Most websites have certain things in common.

Most websites have footer, header, navigation, and other things that allows WordPress to pull that data from the same location for each website. Now, your footer may be a totally different size, look and feel from mine but WordPress doesn’t care about that. They just know to put the header somewhere on that page.

So…when a visitor first lands on a WordPress website, WordPress will go and get her directions. Those directions for WordPress come from the template. WordPress reads the direction to lean what she needs to get and where she needs to put it.

Depending on how complicated the website is there could be lots of chunks to find, move and install. All chunks are stored in the database; if the chunk is not stored in the database then direction on where that chunk is stored will be in the database.

Now WordPress assembles all the chunks according to the template’s instructions and you see the results of those instructions in your browser. The best part, is all this happens in a split second.

How it Saves You Time

Many years ago Geeks on Steroids was built in html. It’s all we knew how to use. We had a little over 200 pages and you would have to sit and copy every piece of code onto every page, if you wanted to add a new stat counter onto the site.

With WordPress I can add to one template file and change anything I want on the entire site. By separating the design from the content WordPress makes design changes quick, easy and painless.

The part that I call WordPress or the brain is separated from the files that actually do the assembling and managing. This means that WordPress can be easily update. Software of any kind has to be constantly changing and adapting to the ever changing internet rather it be for adding new features, security or just to make it more efficient. If you had to completely redo your theme every time WordPress needed to be updated it would be a waste of time.

WordPress has three separate parts the brain, the theme, and the content. Each of these can be tweaked, updated, or replaced, independently. And if that isn’t enough you have a fourth separate structure which is plugins.

These are bits of code that you plug into the WordPress’s system.

Important Tools to Get Traffic

Important tools to get traffic

Someone asked, rather or not you could get 50 visitors per day by writing 30 articles?

I guess anything is possible however very unlikely.

If I was looking on trying to drive some traffic to my website I would do much more than just write 30 articles. As a matter of fact, what I would do is go to Google and do a search for one of my main keywords and at the bottom of the page make a list of all the suggested keywords that Google just showed you.

Then you should buy a domain name that has your main keyword at the beginning of the page.

Use WordPress for your back-end and then write an article and link it back to the homepage with the keyword you want to rank for. Interlink the articles back and forth to one another. You should use the content of the article to create the backlinks.

Then create accounts on Tumbler, WordPress, Squiddo, Blogger, Youtube and HubPages.

You should use your main keyword for the username, blog name, and URL.

Then write articles for these social media sites and link them back to your main website.

After that, participate in the social media sites and start driving traffic from the social media sites to your website. This traffic is an addition to the traffic you should be getting from the search engines.

The idea would be to get enough back links so you could rank #1 for all your keywords. It’s extremely important to get the number ranking for each of the keywords.

Once you get all that set up you need to go back through and bookmark, blog comment, guest post, and use any of the other million ways of getting back links to the social media sites you just created.

Done correctly that should get you 50 visitors per day for 30 articles.

The key to success

The key to success

Someone just asked when they should stop doing SEO.

People really misunderstand the purpose for their website.

The website is a tool itself. I can build my business around my website.

I can look and find out what people are searching for, which keywords convert, what prices convert better, what colors I should be using, what services convert better and the list goes on a on.

All this information comes from my website.

If my website is designed and built correctly, then I should be getting visitors from the search engines daily. I should be making money out of those visitors and reinvesting that money back into the website into different types of marketing and advertising.

I should be running stats and statistics on the websites and should know exactly what my website visitors are doing at all times.

I’m confused by the question, but I do have a question for you.

If I have a tree in my backyard that produces money, at which point should I cut that tree down?
