No One Cares About Your Website

No One Cares About Your Website

A lot of web designers miss the boat when it comes to website design. Your website is not suppose to stand out, well unless it’s about movies, artists, musicians or web 2.0 companies.

A website design is not suppose to distract from the path you want the website visitor to take. The purpose of the website design is to help shine some light on that path but in such way that no one even notices the light.

The purpose of the site is to generate some sort of action and the purpose of the website design is to help the site generate that action.

This means that the site can’t be cutting edge with flash moving all around us but at the same time needs to be clean cut enough not to stand out as a crappy website design. It’s a tough road to walk down however as a web designer you should try and walk down it and not show all the neat new things you’re able to do.
The site is not about you or the client; it’s about what the website visitor can get out of the website.

I agree, I’ve seen more websites where the web designer tried to show what he could do then I’ve seen good websites that were designed with the site visitor in mind.

  2. John says:

This has been an ongoing problem in the web design business since it first started. And as more and more new designers appear every day the problem will continue to grow.

  3. Andrew says:

I believe the problem is less seen now days than it was 5 years ago. As students are being taught that it is not a good practice to clutter the site with useless crap.

  4. Becky says:

I went through 4 different design companies before I finially found one that understood this.

And why is it that no one in the design industry understands how to meet a deadline.

  7. Actually it depends on the visitors mind. If someone is looking for professional web designer but few sites dealing with music artists appear, those sites definitely will be turned down.

I think the design of the website should coincide with the target market or viewer that it is intended for. It just similar in writing wherein you choose the most appropriate subject in a list of essay topics that would perfectly fit your readers. Basically, its just a matter of preference. ;-)

I would like to know from web designers/web developers opinion. How would you answer this question? Please provide one or two paragraph response. Thank you!

You are responsible for content of the company web site. You want to post a photograph on your company web site to help visitors find your building (the building is located near the rear of the par, partially hidden by trees) once they arrive at the business park. Describe, in general terms, how you can enhance the photograph to help visitors find your visitor’s lobby.

I am a stay at home mum, and have been looking into family day care. I have looked at the family day care website already, just wondering if you could share your thoughts or experiences.
I know that the money is not good, but i am at home anyway, so a little is better than nothing. I read that you can apply for $5000 business start up in Remote areas. Is Central or North Queensland considered remote? Thanks!

This is for my research project at school. I need a little bit of information about Highland Park, California Health Care Sevices.
Any website or references would be great.

    1. What hospitals/emergency services serve the residents?
    2. Do all hospitals in this community require insurance from users?
    3. Are there resources outside the community that are available to the uninsured? What services are available?
    4. What services are available for the handicapped mentally retarded? What do health care workers define as the most significant community problems.

Thanks in advance. I would be helpful for my research.
