Computer Illustration or Digital Illustration

Digital Artwork of Rokas Mezetis. Rokas is a digital illustrator from Lithuania.

Computer illustration or digital illustration is the use of digital tools to produce images under the direct manipulation of the artist, usually through a pointing device such as a tablet or a mouse. It is distinguished from computer-generated art, which is produced by a computer using mathematical models created by the artist. It is also distinct from digital manipulation of photographs, in that it is an original construction “from scratch”.

I have an art project to complete based on the phrase: When Pigs Fly.
Currently all my sketchbook work has been based on the literal illustrations of pigs with wings etc. However I decided this was too predictable and boring.. My idea then developed into a frankenstein style 2 piece. One of which with a mad scientist creating a jet pack device for the pig and one with the pig crying as it is launched through the air. I started to create these pieces in photoshop, but personally I am not that great at digital work and was finding the piece did not flow enough &PS was restricting.
I am still not really sure that I really like the idea I have chosen or that it isnt still too predictable, I can make any size piece including 2D/3D. Would rather not use the computer anymore, but need to come up with some OUTSIDE THE BOX ideas. Help PLZ :D

    Hi,

I have learned some good digital imaging programs for the past four months. I have seen that digital graphics are everywhere now. I would like to start creating and selling some but I no clue as what they sell for or if it is worth my time doing it.

Where can I learn about computer graphics, the cost, the contract or even the rules for making them?
I know that there is illustration but I am mainly interested in graphics for the Internet.

There are a lot of people that know Photoshop and programing but what about the people that want just the graphics is there a market for it?

I would definitely be interested in selling graphics but as I said before I don’t know if it would be something I could compete in today’s market.

    Any good suggestions?

I bought cs5 for my laptop, but I was wanting to get a new desktop since I use it all day every day for digital illustration. I prefer HP but any suggestions are welcome. What I want is the best I can get for under or close to $800. Here is what I was looking at:

Do you think the Graphics card is sufficient for cs5?
