I talk to people every day that tell me they want to increase their rankings in the search engines. And some just want more traffic and don’t care where it comes from.
Don’t get me wrong. I am all for more traffic. But keep in mind that a 10% increase in traffic yields the same dollar amount as a 10% increase in conversion.
Let’s say you are selling a product for $200.00.
You go out and buy 100 visitors to your website for $1.00 per visitor.
One person buys.
You want to increase the amount of money you’re making. You decide to spend $100.00 on another 100 visitors and the second $100.00 on cleaning up some web design problems. Because you cleaned the site up you increase your conversion so you now make 2 sales off the same $100.00 you spent.
You can now afford to spend more money on improving conversion as well as increasing traffic.
It’s important to understand that every time you increase conversion you are getting closer to what your website visitors are looking for. Your advertising dollars are able to go further. And you’re able to justify business decisions with proof.
