I am trying to integrate my unique selling point advantage into my cold call script. I am a computer consultant, and my USP is that my company can provide support for almost all user issue’s remotely. This allows for a faster response time as the client does not have to wait for a technician to showup on site. (this method allows me to reboot and control any PC, boot them in safe mode, etc…)

I’m completely uncomfortable in formal situations. I’ve been criticised for being too relaxed but then I’ve been called cold when I keep my distance and remain formal. I HAVE got it right a several times but when I do, it leaves me completely exhausted from all the decision making and pre-scripted behaviour. How can I become more comfortable yet remain appropriate in formal settings?

I am a scheduling coordinator and I am very new to the game. I am doing a horrible job right now and I really want to better. I’m working for a really nice little family owned company who knows my dad, loves me and pays me a ridiculously high $12 plus $75 commission on any appointment I set that results in a sale. I do not want to get fired! I got zero appointments last week and zero again today! I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I am far from an expert at this and there’s basically no training program here and no real system even set up for how exactly to do this whole operation. What I’m trying to do is set appointments for a VOIP telecom company. I’m calling business to business. I know nothing about getting past the gatekeeper. My only method is to pretend that I have spoken with the decision maker previously and he has asked me to call back. I have a few good rebuttals for when I actually get to talk to a decision maker, but I rarely get far enough to use them.
I guess the things I need the most help with are getting past the gatekeeper and maybe some tips for leaving answering machine messages, because I currently never leave a message and I feel like it might help sometimes if I did. I also am not working off of the greatest script, but our whole team is trying to write up a better one right now. The opening is the most important part of the script, and I think that is the part where we’ve been the most lacking so far.
I know there are tons of people who can help on this one! I’m so inexperienced that I barely know what to ask. Just help me out with some of your best tips if you can, please!

I recently began working for a marketing company with a unique twist – Its a Marketing Agency that purchased a Uniform company. So the focus is somewhat split. My job responsibility has changed from what I was supposed to be doing and I am little “fish out of water” on my new responsibility which is 100% new business – cold calling & setting appointments. What I’m struggling with is my initial phone pitch since when the 2 units (marketing & uniforms) require talking with 2 different people. I’m trying different things but to no avail – a lot of voicemails or send me your info first. There is no script or training provided so I’m kind of left up to my own devices on this. Sometimes its tough to identify who to even call. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
CommonSense I completely agree – unfortunately my boss issues my paycheck and he wants sales on the board fast and in this is how we wants it done – but with no direction on how to go about it. Big sales come with time, not overnight. We have a generic blast that goes out 2 times a month.
I’m more focused on getting my pitch right since this is the directive at this point. We’re a small company so its not a matter of finding a different way to approach it all together.

It’s an open audition and none of this (line learning, specific times, etc) has been requested by the director.
