Web Design Inspiration

Some people believe that ideas just happen however, I don’t believe they happen by accident.

And great ideas don’t always lead to success. It doesn’t matter if you have the perfect solution for an everyday problem or a bold new concept for a creative masterpiece; you must transform your vision into reality.

The ability to put it all together can be learned and developed by anyone. You just have to modify your organizational habits, engage a broader community, and develop your leadership capability. When it comes to designing websites and marketing online one has to learn all of the above.

One of the things I do every morning is to look for things to inspire me, below are some of the things I found today.

Janeth is a marketer who works in the web design medium. She believes her job is to create techniques that target groups of people, reach out to that group, and get that group to take some form of action. This goes beyond being a simple graphic design or search engine optimizer.

I truly adore Yahoo! OMG web design. May I know who design it? Or where should I start looking, other than googling around?

I am trying to get some inspiration to design a website and have this habit checking out the portfolios of designers of websites I like.

Omg. I’m lacking inspiration. I’m trying to do some web design or just graphics but I just don’t have nooooo ideas or inspiration. :S
Website about? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter actually. About photography maybe?
I’ve been using Photoshop since I was 10 (Now I’m 18) so I know how to use all the tools, that’s not the problem. My problem is that I don’t have inspiration not at all. :/

we have started a new end of year project and i have Absolutely NO IDEA what to do , i have no inspiration.

basically this is the project out line
Start by deciding on your ‘self promotion’ angle…you are promoting yourself as a design specialist…what kind of subject matter is going to best represent the face / style and approach of your company?
Eg – do you want your branding to appear feminine, masculine, decorative, hard edged and graphic, illustrative, painterly or with a hand drawn look & feel, recycled, organic, young and fresh, conservative, artistic etc…
Now…make a list of the kind of subject matter that you think will best define and represent your ‘self promotion’ angle…

Create an A3 photo montage showcasing the subject matter described above. You may use any combination of downloaded images, drawn and scanned images, photoshop brushes and text to illustrate your ideas…
Print this in full colour on good quality paper ( scaled down 50% ) and attach to the top right of your folio panel.

    Sub brief 1 : Logo & Slogan
Create 2 x A3 docs using photoshop or in design and integrating hand drawn techniques to demonstrate ideas about logo design and typography. Your logo needs to be fresh and inventive and can incorporate imagery if you choose. Make careful choices about colour thinking about the ‘self promotion’ angle you decided on above. Eg if you had settled on a recycled look for your self promotion panels you might use paper bag browns and organic soft greens in your colour scheme. You should also decide on a slogan or phrase that represents you…this phrase should also echo the look / style you have selected eg for a recycled look / style you may use something like “think green”. Your slogan can have as few or as many words as you choose.
Your 2 x A3 docs should showcase innovative approaches to typography and logo design and be in a range of black & white, monochromatic and polychromatic options and may incorporate imagery.
Aim for a minimum of 10 x concepts on the first A3 doc. 4 – 6 developments across the top of the 2nd A3 doc and 2 finals on the bottom of the 2nd A3 doc ( possibly one with text only and one text + image solution ).

Sub brief 2 : Illustrative swatches
Select 2 illustrative design models who use design processes and techniques that you like and wish to use in your work. Think carefully about your choice of subject matter when choosing design models and try to choose models whose ideas / processes / techniques will be appropriate to the subject and idea you are working with.
Develop and create a range of small swatches of illustrative mixed media works that demonstrate creative integration of ideas & processes used by your selected design models. The subject matter for these works should come from your brainstorm at task 1 and the style should clearly reflect your intentions / angle as selected at task 1.
You should aim to have :
2 small works that relate to each design model ( 4 in total ). These are your generations.
2 – 4 x medium sized works that combine ideas from both models. These are your developments
1 – 2 x larger sized works that best demonstrate your subject and style and integration of both design models. These are your most resolved and clarified works.

Sub brief 3 :D esigner’s portfolio Web page
For this sub brief you are to design a web page that will be the first page to appear for your designer’s portfolio online website. Your web page should integrate some logo / slogan ideas from sub brief 1 and some illustrative design ideas from sub brief 2.
As for sub brief 2 you will need to show ideas generated, developed and clarified within this brief.
    Recommended requirements :
4 initial web page ideas integrating elements of your illustrative design works from sub brief 2. These are your generations.
2 x medium sized works showing development of the web page. These are your developments.
1 x larger sized works that show your most resolved and clarified web page ideas. These are your most resolved and clarified works.

Sub brief 4 : Bus stop or billboard
As for sub brief 2 and 3 you will need to show ideas generated, developed and clarified within this brief. This lower part of board 2 should showcase your most resolved work. As for the web page, your billboard or bus stop should integrate your logo and / or slogan from sub brief 1.
    Recommended requirements :
6 initial bus stop or billboard ideas
    2 developments
