Janeth is a marketer who works in the web design medium. She believes her job is to create techniques that target groups of people, reach out to that group, and get that group to take some form of action. This goes beyond being a simple graphic design or search engine optimizer.
whether your doing static dynamic pages or full Ajax applications you still need to select and insert data to a database, process it and format it in either full html content or xml/json requests back to the browser. PHP is still the easiest language to do this with.
With ajax features becoming more in demand, it becomes harder to manage older systems based on the back end creating while pages dynamically on the server side. It causes you to have to rewrite the javascript every single time you change the php templates. Its much simpler to just have a web server feed static pages (seeds) that are rich in javascript and talk to a now viewless server.
I’m more against the paradigm of generating html/tempate content on the server side. The html, css and javascript (and whatever else you use on the front side) should be talking to whatever you have on the back-end through a defined convention instead of php generating a bunch of html to spit out.
using this approach, it doesn’t really matter what you use on the back end, as long as it can handle web requests and interface with your client. the server side becomes simpler.
OK that is not fair. Coding Object oriented PHP 5 is a lot easier and securer than coding Server Side C or C++ if you want to have raw speed. Java is about the same speed as PHP code that make use of caching with APC so good PHP code is powerful, fast and a lot easier to learn and code. PHP is also so ubiquitous that yo app will run on any host. You will definitely need a dedicated server to run c++ and java apps on.
Learn PHP if you need to create real production apps in the shortest time.
smarty is retarded. i used it for a year at my job and it served absolutely no purpose. I later decided that php served no real purpose as well. Want a good template system? how about html and css. use javascript and a protocol to talk to an ajax server. server side template systems create are redundant as users demand more interactive javascript anyway and any change to the server side template must be changed in JS anyway..
in the grand scheme of things smarty just makes working with php variables in html content a little easier to understand if your are the designer. But is pointless if your the developer and designer as its just another level of time waste to achieve nothing you can’t do with raw php.
It can potentially also slow your applications down (even with caching) so i would not bother with it. only use it if your designer has no clue about php or you don’t want to give them access to the php parts.
Read the article and write a TWO paragraph reaction/opinion essay. write about the actual content of the article…not what you think about the web page or the text! I want a response that expresses that you have considered the topic of the article and thought about the application of that topic in ethical terms, either in your personal realm or the general realm.
MORAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN:
KNOWING RIGHT FROM WRONG
By Ron Huxley, LMFT
On the way to work one morning I witnessed a heart-warming event. A group of elementary school girls were running down the street, laughing out loud as only little girls can. At first, I thought it was just the innocent giddiness of young children. Then, I saw the girl running behind them. She was a larger girl, desperately trying to catch up, and yelling for them to stop. As I past them, I looked back in the rearview mirror to catch one last glimpse of the cruel situation. To my surprise, I saw one of the girls who had been in the front, stopped on the sidewalk, waiting for the other girl to catch up. As a parent, I wanted that to have been my child, if a similar situation every presented itself to them.
How do we teach our children about right and wrong? Where do they learn compassion, kindness, and other important morals? Are there practical ways for parents to shape their child’s characters? These are some of the questions we will be looking at in the next few weeks. For now, let’s take a look at the moral development of children.
The Moral Development of Children
When people talk about moral development, they are referring to their conduct and attitude towards other people in society. They look to see if you and I follow societal norms, rules, and laws. In terms of children, we are describing their ability to distinguish right from wrong.
Two noteworthy individuals, Jean Piaget and Lawrence Kohlberg, studied the moral development of children. Piaget looked at how children develop moral reasoning. He found that young children have a much more primitive understanding of right and wrong behavior than do older children.
“Who’s Naughtier?”
Piaget determined that younger children judge bad behavior by the amount of damage caused by a person’s behavior. He would tell children a story with a moral dilemma. He would ask them to tell him “who is naughtier:” a boy who accidentally broke fifteen cups or a boy who breaks one cup trying to reach a jam jar when his mother is not around. Younger children attributed the “naughty” behavior to the boy who broke the most cups regardless of the other child’s intent. This type of moral reasoning was called Objective Morality or Moral Realism.
Older children attributed bad behavior to the boy who broke only one cup because his motives where bad. This, more advanced form of moral reasoning was called Subjective Morality or Autonomous Morality. Piaget did not feel that children fully achieved this stage of moral development before the ages of twelve or thirteen.
“What’s Right?”
Kohlberg carried Piaget’s work into adolescence and adulthood. He also told children moral dilemma stories, but he would ask them to tell him what they thought would be the right thing to do. Their answers led him to the discovery of three levels of moral development with two stages each:
The first level is called Preconventional. During this level children are concerned with avoiding punishment (Stage 1: Punishment-Obedience) and getting one’s own needs met (Stage 2: Individualism). This level and its stages fit into the framework of young children, up to the age of ten years.
The second level is called Conventional. During this level children are more concerned with living up to the expectations of others (Stage 3: Interpersonal Conformity) and want to do the right thing because it is good for the group, family, or institution (Stage 4: Social System and Conscience). This level and its stages fit children over the age of ten years and on to adulthood.
The third level is called Postconventional. During this level individuals govern their behavior by the relative values and opinions of the groups they live and interact with. Right behavior is based on a “social contract” (Stage 5: Social Contract and Individual Rights) with others and in the validity of universal moral principles (Stage 6: Universal/Ethical Principles) which may or may not agree with societies laws. Laws that agree with universal moral principles are obeyed but when those laws violate these principles, the individual follows the principles instead.
Although many people have criticized Piaget and Kohlberg about their stages of moral development as being culturally biased, the parenting questions remain: How do we teach children moral behavior?
a. larva stage of fly
b. shedding of exoskeleton
c. pupa stage of moth
d. ants, bees and termites
e. hard, outer skeleton
f. “feelers” on insects
g. without a backbone
h. having jointed legs
i. change in body form during development
j. larva stage of butterfly
k. spins spider web thread.
l. branched breathing tubes in insects
m. the study of insects
n. breathing openings in abdomen of insects
o. color pattern to blend with habitat
p. colonies of bees and wasps.

here is the link you can see Erik Erikson’s development chart.
i am doing a project for my psychology assignment about 8 stages on Erikson’s Theory of development. my task is to find at least 5 people and ask them about any incident in their life that conects to Erikson’s theory of development. i have done 1 for my self and i need 4 more people. all you need to do is to describe the incident and why or how you think that your incident relates to Erikson’s theory of development. can anyone please do that i am not allowed to ask any of the family members or friends.
I am 34 yrs old single male from Calcutta,India.I am a BSc graduate from Univ of Calcutta.I am presently doing my MBA in Mktg from SMU(Sikkim Manipal University).I am in the final sems to be completed in Jan 2012. I am also pursuing a PHP web dev course which will complete in the same time. I know some bit C language.
I have 5 yrs pharma sales exp but I left it last year as I was frustrated with this profession- I was not getting any increment.I was not doing job properly as I was not mentally satisfies with the job condition. Also I was not seeing any growth prospects ,plus I was working under on relative who was not helping much.
My parents were also reporting my activities. From the initial days I hated sales & I dont want to get back into sales again.
Now I feel afraid & confused as I am already crossed my right age to fight back.
So Sir/Madam, I seek your advice which will be the right path for me -
1)Going for PHP Web development career with no Computer Science background?( Also I have to start at a very low salary in a very small company ,maybe a structureless company ,Also I dont know what future is there in working in such a small company at this late age? So please advice me in this regard)
Or
2) Should I try in MBA related lines?( I am afraid of sales jobs & my spoken English communication is not good.Plus I am little too lazy for outdoor hectic jobs with targets.)
I am suffering from mental depression (my opinion,I have not checked with a doctor but everyone says I am mentally ill as I shout and break things apart in times of quarrel with my parents. I feel they are responsible for the misguidance and my condition now)
I also suffer from frustration because I dont have any friends or any love in my life.
My mother is very abusive and willing to get me married. Also I tried but no female seems to be my girlfriend.
People say bad things that I did sex with my sister which is totally a lie.
Pls help me & tell me what to do in such abusive & negative atmosphere I am living in.
I cant live my home as that will worsen my condition.

If one is forced to work with php and mysql then what would be the best practice? Is there something better than smarty?

i agree with that.

server side template systems of any kind (including php hypertext preprocessor) are counter intuitive to a decent AJAX architecture.
i wish recruiters and HR would stop asking me to learn retarded shit. why must i always sink down to this level.

Kohana PHP – (codeigniter fork)
Wipes the Floor with codeigniter. if your serious about writing Fast, Light weight but Powerful php apps, then use that.
this guy is the worst teacher ever.
Why don’t you get you facts right before confusing people even more than they need to be
Just a correction, HTML is NOT how you format a page… you do it through CSS. Please make sure you correct that so people do not get confused.
Codeigniter is excellent for PHP.
smarty allows u to create dynamic templates
CodeIgniter is a very powerful framework and I enjoy working with it!
Thanks for the info. Can you share with us more information regarding smarty engine.

here is the link you can see Erik Erikson’s development chart.
i am doing a project for my psychology assignment about 8 stages on Erikson’s Theory of development. my task is to find at least 5 people and ask them about any incident in their life that conects to Erikson’s theory of development. i have done 1 for my self and i need 4 more people. all you need to do is to describe the incident and why or how you think that your incident relates to Erikson’s theory of development. can anyone please do that i am not allowed to ask any of the family members or friends.
